USDA extends application deadline for Nov 6-8 trade mission to Mexico.
It is expected to get chance a great opportunity to make new contacts and grow business. The new application deadline is Friday, August 23, 2019.
Mexico has long been a top market for U.S. farm and food products – and the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement promises to unlock even greater opportunities for American exporters.
U. S. companis can come along and explore those opportunities when the U.S. Department of Agriculture leads a trade mission to Mexico City November 6-8, 2019.
At one time, Mexico was primarily a bulk commodity market, but its growing economy and population are driving demand for high-value, consumer-oriented foods, which now are now the largest category of U.S. agricultural exports to Mexico.
Currently, United States’ southern neighbor is the #1 export market for U.S. corn, dairy, poultry and eggs, sugar and sweeteners, distillers dried grains, and rice. It also ranks among the top destinations for an assortment of processed foods and beverages, as well as other key products including soybeans, beef, pork, wheat, and fresh fruits and vegetables.
USDA recommends to do not miss this chance to grow the U.S. company export business by connecting with potential customers and learning the ins and outs of doing business with Mexico.

Shabbat Shalom Challah Cover: An Optical Illusion Speaks to the Spiritual Emotions of Shabbat
Launching this season is a Challah Cover with Shabbat Shalom written in Hebrew. Inspired by the magical feel of Shabbat, the design is an optical illusion. Made with velvet fabric, considered a traditional material, and enhanced with a mesh background popular in the Challah Cover from the core collection.
“Velvet material has been a popular and long used material in challah covers so we wanted to explore it with a modern technique (laser cut),” explained Gabriela.
Rocks Challah Cover: A Natural Evolution of Apeloig Collection Design
This new design is a natural evolution from the first core collection design. It starts in the corner with Apeloig Collection’s signature Star of David and progresses into a scattered modern design. The words Shabbat Shalom are in Hebrew and were a tribute to the many customers who requested the wording.
Core Collection Challah Covers: A Contemporary Take on Grandma’s Favorite Lace
Apeloig Collection translated the intricate, elegant patterns on grandma’s dollies into an equally beautiful yet contemporary laser-cut version. The cover is made of two distinct fabrics, giving the challah cover the illusion of light and air. Delicate tulle is layered below an acetate fabric that has been laser-cut with a precise pattern of modern Stars of David. The challah cover is available in eight colors: gold, silver, bronze, taupe, cream, black/white, blue, and eggplant.
The Apeloig Collection also includes:
Mezuzah: Sophisticated Simplicity
Elegant in its simplicity, Apeloig Collection modern mezuzah reminds us that the most beautiful part of the mezuzah is the text within. Available in 16 vibrant colors and four sizes, each handcrafted mezuzah is made out of acrylic that ensures the mezuzah scroll housed inside is always visible. Each Apeloig Collection mezuzah comes in beautiful custom packaging that’s perfect for gift giving. The collection also includes a new “wood” design style which was inspired by current design trends.
Challah Boards: Modern Versatility
Made of beautiful translucent acrylic, this modern challah board is as dazzling as it is versatile. Meticulously designed features include a magnetically attached knife that will never harm the acrylic surface, it fits in its own nook and it is flush with the board, a built-in dish for salt or honey and ergonomic borders that make the board easy to grip. Each challah board comes in a custom-designed box with a magnetic closure for long-term storage. The solid Challah Board is available in ten vibrant colors: honey, eggplant, silver, gray, black, gold, smoke, blue, white, and neon. According to the USDA Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) reports released last month Russia became Vietnam’s leading supplier of wheat, as imports from Australia fell significantly.
Russia exported an estimated 1.7 MMT of wheat into Vietnam in MY18/19, gaining a 50 percent market share.
Post estimates stagnant wheat consumption on both the uncompetitive price of feed wheat and the flat use of milling wheat. The latter is due to Vietnam’s Plant Protection Department’s (PPD) ongoing quarantine pest inspections.
Feed wheat use varies depending on its price differential with imported corn. Feed wheat prices were running lower or at nearly the same level as compared to corn prices from the second half of 2016 to August 2018 (see Figure 1).
However, wheat prices have been diverting higher since then, thereby resulting in reduced feed wheat consumption. Increasing prices have also coincided with an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) that began in early 2019. Producers have cut wheat inclusions in feed in order to reduce costs.
U.S. wheat is considered high quality and is used by Vietnamese mills for blending as a cost-effective way to improve the value of their flour products. Recently, U.S. wheat imports have been steadily rising, reflecting the increased demand for premium quality products.
However, PPD’s ongoing quarantine pest inspections have discouraged shipments of U.S. wheat since the end of calendar year 2018. The local wheat milling industry has faced difficulties in sourcing high quality wheat, especially soft white wheat. Feed industry sources have also noted that the inspections are reducing the use of quality ingredients in feed.

This year, Studio Smoll has been nominated to take part in the ‘sustainability: design for a better world’ exhibition that gathers together environmentally-conscious and socially-responsible brands from around the world. Studio Smoll has also been shortlisted for the Eco Choice Awards.
Last year, the Fresh Taiwan pavilion welcomed buyers from New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art and National Building Museum, California’s SFMOMA and San Diego Museum of Art, the US’ biggest chain bookstore Barnes & Nobles, NYC-based online gift shop Uncommongoods, men’s shopping blog Cool Material, and German stationery brand Kaweco. This is Fresh Taiwan’s first international event in 2019, and later in the year it will head to Maison et Objet Paris and Style Bangkok Fair.
All 10 Fresh Taiwan design brands exhibiting at NY NOW Summer 2019 are material-led; each with their own unique style of Taiwanese minimalism. Almost all of their products are completely plastic-free, focusing instead on materials such as brass, concrete, Jesmonite, leather, and wood. What’s more, many of the brands enhance their product design with a fun twist of DIY, including modular cameras by PAPER SHOOT, the R series DIY Bluetooth Radio by CELIA&PERAH, and mix-and-match leather bags by Studio Smoll.
The latest product from PAPER SHOOT is the Jadeite cabbage camera, designed in partnership with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum. It joins the brand’s popular CROZ vintage camera series, which derives its vintage style from the brass frame and fastens that hold the camera together. This lomography brand leads a subculture of digital natives who desire less tech and more style.
ystudio is dedicated to sharing the beauty of words, writing, and stationery. The brand achieves this by crafting its pen collections from lavish materials such as brass, which lend them a luxurious look and feel. For example, the YAKIHAKU PEN was designed in collaboration with Japanese artisan Kohei Murata, using brass and Unryū foil, which is a rare material with a “Cloud Dragon” pattern.
Kanari crafts elegant clocks, lighting, and tabletop products from brass and copper. The brand’s latest offering is the CLOUD Tissue Box, which assumes the unique form of a three-dimensional trapezoid, inside a circular frame made from brass or copper. Its other products on display at NY NOW include the House bottle opener, Skelock clock, Cylight pendant lighting, and Twilight tea light holder.
22STUDIO is inspired by the brutalist architecture of Taipei, and not just in terms of material, but also in terms of form. The brand’s fashion accessories include polygonal Concrete Jewelry (Rings) and the 4D Concrete Watch Automatic. Its brutalist stationery collection includes the Seven Ballpoint Pen, Merge Tape Handheld Dispenser, and the 4th Dimension Table Clock, which are all made from concrete.
Jesmonite is the signature material of the Landscape of Oxidation fashion and tabletop collection by Yenchenyawen design studio. Their new products featured on the Fresh Taiwan booth include Ring holders and jewelry boxes. The brand is inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, which cherishes damage and repair as part of an object’s history rather than something to disguise.
Kamaro’an explores Taiwanese tribal culture and craftsmanship through minimalist design. The brand’s leather products, which include bags and purses, are handwoven by skilled, indigenous craftspeople on Taiwan’s east coast. Their latest product is a mirror with a handwoven leather frame that complements the brand’s collection of Woven Accessories and Umbrella Sedge lightings.
Studio Smoll designs eco-friendly leather bags that are completely free of toxic chemicals and adhesives. Their alternative assembly method is based on an ingenious folding technique, which is so simple that anyone can do it. The brand will showcase 5 of its DIY leather bags at NY NOW, including the new Nerdy Mini DIY Leather Backpack that comes in different colors so users can mix-and-match.
Favored for its natural acoustic properties, wood is the main material of CELIA&PERAH speakers. The brand’s products range from premium quality hi-fi systems, to portable and wireless bluetooth speakers that connect with devices such as smartphones or laptops. Its latest product is the R series DIY Bluetooth Radio, which is designed to offer audiophiles the experience of building their own audio device from scratch.
eguchi toys specializes in finely crafted wooden toys for little hands at the beginning of life. Born in Japan but residing in Taiwan, designer Kentaro Eguchi studied fine art and childhood education before founding his wooden toy brand. His bird-shaped hanging mobiles, puzzle games, and music boxes all aim to stimulate children’s imaginations, while allowing their dreams to flourish naturally.
