2012여수세계박람회재단 이사장에 송대수 씨 임명

해양수산부(장관 김영춘)는 2월 5일자로 2012여수세계박람회재단 신임 이사장에 송대수(63세) 전 전라남도의회 의원을 임명했다.

 

송대수 신임 이사장은 전남 여수 출신으로, 전남대학교 토목공학과(학사), 전남대학원 산업공학과(해양토목 석사)를 졸업하고 전라남도의회 의원(‘02~’14)으로 의정활동을 수행해 왔다.

 

송 이사장은 2012여수세계박람회 유치특별위원장(‘05~’06), 2012여수세계박람회 전라남도 준비위원(‘10~’12) 등을 역임하며 관련분야에 대한 풍부한 경험을 쌓았다. 앞으로 이를 바탕으로 박람회장 활성화·민간투자유치·박람회재단 자생력 강화 등 각종 현안을 적극적으로 추진하는 동시에 지역과 중앙정부를 잇는 가교역할을 원활히 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

과기정통부 2차관 페이스북 부사장 면담

과학기술정보통신부는 김용수 제2차관이 지난 10(페이스북의 모바일ㆍ글로벌 접근성 담당 케빈 마틴(Kevin Martin) 부사장의 방문을 받고 ‘망 중립성 이슈 등 미국 현안페이스북의 한국 내 사업방향’ 등에 관해 논의하였다고 밝혔다.

이번 면담은 페이스북의 요청으로 이루어졌으며페이스북 모바일·글로벌 접근성 담당 케빈 마틴 부사장페이스북코리아 박대성 부사장 등이 참석하였다

김용수 제2차관은 “최근 해외 콘텐츠사업자(CP)가 국내 인터넷망 사업자(ISP)에게 지불하는 망 사용료가 국내 CP에 비해 현저히 낮다는 역차별 이슈가 제기되고 있다”고 지적하고“페이스북이 우리나라의 우수한 통신 인프라를 기반으로 서비스를 제공하는 만큼국내 이용자와 망 사업자를 존중하여 적정한 망 사용료를 지불하는 방향으로 페이스북의 정책 전환이 이루어져야 한다”고 당부했다.

최재철 주덴마크대사 국제박람회기구(BIE) 집행위원회 위원장 3선

최재철 주덴마크대사는 지난 15일 파리에서 개최된 국제박람회기구(BIE : Bureau International des Expositions) 제162차 총회에서 집행위원회(Executive Committee) 위원장으로 3선되었다고 16일 외교부가 밝혔다.

집행위원회는 BIE 4개 분과위(집행위원회, 규칙위원회, 행정예산위원회, 정보통신위원회) 중 선임 위원회로서 국제박람회 개최국 결정 및 조직에 관한 주요 업무를 총괄하며, 3회까지(각 임기 2년) 수임이 가능하다.

최재철 대사는 지난 4년간(2013.11월-2017.11월) 두 차례 임기동안 집행위원장으로 활동해 오고 있으며, 올해 3월과 4월 실사단장 자격으로 2022/23 인정박람회 개최후보지(미국 미네소타, 아르헨티나 부에노스아이레스, 폴란드 우치)에 대한 실사를 수행하여 지난 BIE 총회에 그 결과를 보고한 바 있다.

최재철 대사의 세 번째 임기는 2019.11월 BIE 총회시까지이며, 2018년 상반기 중 실사단장으로 2025 등록박람회 개최후보지(일본 오사카, 프랑스 파리, 러시아 예카테린부르크, 아제르바이잔 바쿠 )를 방문하고 실사 결과를 2018.6월 BIE 총회에 보고할 예정이다.

2025 등록박람회 개최국은 2018.11월 총회에서 회원국 투표를 통해 최종 선정될 예정이다. BIE는 1928년 파리 협약에 따라 박람회 개최국 결정, 개최국과 참가국간 의무와 권리 규정 등 국제박람회를 관장하기 위해 설립된 국제기구로 우리나라를 포함 총 170개 회원국을 두고 있으며, 금번 총회시 미국이 다시 회원국 지위를 획득하였다.

우리 정부는 1987년 BIE 회원국으로 가입한 이후 1993년 대전 박람회와 2012년 여수 박람회를 성공적으로 개최한 바 있으며, 현재 2030년 부산 등록박람회 유치에 대한 타당성 조사를 진행 중에 있다.

GSMA Announces First Keynote Speakers for Mobile World Congress 2018

The GSMA today announced that executives from Bharti Enterprises, BT Group, Ericsson, NTT DOCOMO, Red Hat, Telenor Group and Vodafone Group are among the first keynote speakers confirmed for the 2018 Mobile World Congress. The GSMA also announced further updates for the event, including new exhibitors, sponsors and programmes. Mobile World Congress will be held 26 February – 1 March 2018 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, with events also taking place at Fira Montjuïc.

Huawei’s Richard Yu Announced as CES 2018 Keynote Speaker

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced that Richard Yu, CEO, Consumer Business Group, Huawei will deliver a keynote address at CES® 2018. Yu’s address will take place at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 9 in the Venetian Palazzo Ballroom. Owned and produced by CTA, CES 2018 returns to Las Vegas, January 9-12, 2018.

Mr. Yu took the CES 2017 keynote stage to discuss the future of mobility, especially in the areas of AI, virtual reality and connected technologies. He returns in 2018 to share Huawei’s exploration on future connectivity and strategy in AI, IoT and new smart devices. Mr. Yu’s keynote mirrors many of the key industry trends poised to be showcased throughout CES. Numerous exhibitors at CES 2018 will display the latest connected technologies, specifically focused on IoT, 5G connectivity, transportation, artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Richard Yu began his career at Huawei over two decades ago in 1993. In 2006, he was appointed president of Huawei’s Wireless Network product line, and was nominated as president of the European region in 2008.

Huawei launched its Consumer Business Group in 2003. Since then, it has emerged as one of the top three smartphone brands, and has pushed the industry forward through meaningful and innovative consumer technology. Pet Industry’s Largest Annual Show Set to Meet at the 14th Annual Global Pet Expo in the U.S.

The American Pet Products Association (APPA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) will present the premier industry event, Global Pet Expo on March 21-23, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Global Pet Expo is the pet industry’s largest annual show. It is a great opportunity for buyers to see first-hand all the hottest and newest pet products before they hit store shelves.

With 84.6 million pet-owning households in the U.S., consumers continue to look for the latest the industry has to offer.

According to the show the 13th Annual Show featured 6,761 qualified buyers, 1,130 exhibitors and 3,437 booths sold – making for record-setting numbers. Total Show attendance came at 16,646, with 343,700 net square feet of exhibit space which was 24,000 feet larger than the 2016 Show.

27% of exhibitors were international, making up 305 of the 1,130 exhibitors and more than 25% of buyers were from outside of the U.S., coming from 79 countries. In order to recognize the increase in international participants, the 2017 Show debuted country-specific pavilions which gave participating country delegations dedicated space throughout the exhibit floor.

Companies launching new products can highlight them in the New Products Showcase, where buyers and media have the opportunity to preview all the newest products hitting the industry in one convenient location.

The 30,000-square foot space on the trade show floor is set aside to recognize the year’s best creative efforts in New Product and Point-of-Purchase Displays. With nearly 1,000 entries submitted, this is the largest new products showcase at any pet product industry trade show in the world.

The New Products Showcase “Best in Show” awards are the most coveted awards given in the industry. Winners will be announced at the Eighth Annual New Products Showcase Awards presentation. In order to be eligible to win, products must be entered in the New Products Showcase.

In addition to opportunities on the Show Floor, attendees can also attend the 2018 Global Pet Expo Academy. Managed by PIDA, the 2017 seminar lineup featured 29 different seminars from 16 expert instructors in the fields of marketing, social media and technology, merchandising, management, personnel and retail operations. Described by attendees as, engaging, insightful and informational, the 2017 Global Pet Expo Academy was a huge success with more than 1,600 attendees, a 23% increase over 2016.
